Does what I want a vacuum to do

Although most the reviews are for the 4870GZ and I bought the 4870MZ, I suspect the machines are basically the same so I won't repeat what others have already said about it except to say this is a solid machine with excellent suction and it did a great job on my carpets, both deep cleaning and returning the nap to a plush feel.I'm writing to say that, contrary to many reviews, the Power Paw does in fact attach to the vacuum. At least mine does. It comes with a clear plastic cover that attaches to the vacuum just below the top D-handle. If you look closely you'll find the mating point. You then simply clip the paw into the cover and it stores on the handle. Also, contrary to some reviews, the bare floor setting works fine. You just need to press the tab hard until you hear a click and it engages. The brush is then disabled for bare floor vacuuming.I really wanted to justify a Dyson but at 1/3 the price, this machine is all that I need. I'm extremely... 5/5 Glenn Dudley "Eco friend" (Lewiston, Maine USA) - See all my reviews, April 30, 2008

**second update - 4 years later and still working great.**Update to the below review** It is two years later and my vacuum cleaner is still working great and I still love it! The power paw attachment is great for vacuuming the stairs - we have two sets and it is easier to use the power paw than balance my canister vac on the stairs. My 12 yr old Sharp upright gave up the ghost so I needed a new upright for upstairs. I read a lot of reviews here and at e-pinions and decided on this Eureka. First I will say it is very important to read all of the manual, because it actually addresses some of the issues people have with this vacuum, such as: (1) this machine is no heavier than my old one, but people complain it is heavy and hard to maneuver - the maneuverability and "heaviness" of it are greatly improved if one selects the proper brush height. Set it too low and yes, you will be struggling to pull this vacuum back toward you. The first time I used it OMG - it... 5/5 The Wild Olive (Raleigh, North Carolina) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This Vac really sucks (-:

My wife and I have been around the block a time or two and, as with many of you, have been through our share of vacuums over the years. I'm here to tell you this one works. Stay away from the TV "infomercials" plugging no-name vacs and making outlandish claims. Remember the old saying, "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is". Trust the "trusted" names. Eureka has been around a long time. We checked Consumer Reports before investing in a new upright vac. They listed 3 as being excellent buys. 2 were Kenmores and the third was the Eureka 4870 series. The letters at the end of the model don't mean much (the MZ has the "power brush", but the 4870 is important. The ratings of all 3 vacs were basically the same, but the Eureka was half the price. The sucking power is incredible. It's not the quietest unit in the world, but I'll gladly trade that for the job it does. Right after buying this vac, someone (we have many young, devilish grandchildren),... 5/5 William W. Perry "RocknJo" (Lubbock, TX USA) - See all my reviews, September 9, 2008

    Great Product!

I purchased this product to help with the daily cleanup of pet hair on my tile floors. I researched several similar vacuums, but this one seemed to have all that I needed. The price was right, online reviews were good, and it meet all my criteria - cordless, upright and rechargeable. The product was easy to assemble. Handle is easy to attach and remove, filter is easy to empty and clean, and the vacuum attaches to the charger easily. The instructions said to charge for 14-16 hours before first use. It had charged about 20 hours before I first used it. It worked for about 5 minutes and then quit. I decided to let it charge longer. I kept it on the charger for 48 hours (just to be sure it was fully charged). I started it up again and WOW! It worked like a charm. The vacuum quickly cleaned up dirt & crumbs along with all the dust bunnies of hair from my multiple pets. It was easy to maneuver around the floor, chairs, and sofa. Here's the nitty gritty!

I have a love/hate relationship with this vacuum cleaner. There are great things about it, and horrible things about it. I will break them both down for you but first I will tell you a little about my home. It is about 2300Sq ft. It has 3 most common floor times. Hardwood, tile, and plush carpet. I bought this vacuum for my new home because it was appealing on many levels. It was small, lightweight and cordless. The Pros: This vacuum is small, lightweight, and cordless. It is easy to assemble and virtually goes anywhere! It's a lot quieter than a traditional vacuum cleaner. Heck it's so small and compact even my toddler enjoys using it (Woohoo!). It is also pretty easy to empty! The Cons: The battery life only allows me to vacuum about 2-3 rooms at a time on a full charge, and about 1 room on a partial charge. The suction isn't the greatest, and you can FORGET picking up anything that isn't dust or hair. It has trouble vacuuming up anything dime sized or bigger... 3/5 Jennifer - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Product - Confusing Product Information

When trying to decide if this model (3670G) was the right vacuum for me, I found a considerable amount of confusing information regarding it's features on the internet..and from the manufacturer itself. First of all, many online retailers flat out state (inaccurately) that this model has a "HEPA" (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter and at least one of the reviews for it here on Amazon (at least as of this writing) seems to indicate that it has one as well. I can tell you outright that having checked with the manufacturer directly and now owning one myself that it does *NOT* have a "HEPA" filter. More on that a little later in this review however.I found another confusing aspect of the description is in the model number (i.e. 3670G). Be careful to understand the difference between what Amazon calls the 3670 (also called the 3670A in some places) and the 3670*G* models. THE BOSS WILL PUT YOU TO WORK!!!

After reading many reviews myself, I opted for the EUREKA BOSS. I was not sure of the difference between this model and the EUREKA MIGHTY MITE...I figured the BOSS had 12amps and could potentially supply more suction power.I think the vacuum works well on bare floors, I cleaned my lovely hardwoods with no problems..and it did wonders on the bathroom and kitchen floors aswell. However, I find that this little vacuum really puts you to work when it comes to cleaning carpet. I must have vacuumed the same spot on my area rug 10 times before I was content with the results. The same thing went for my low pile carpeting in the basement, after multiple passes, it finally got the job done. It comes with one attachment for both hard floors and carpeting, a brush tool for upholstery and a crevace tool. It's compact enough for easy storage, however, it doesn't come with a retractable cord. I like the fact that it's equiped with a HEPA filter, and I don't mind bagged... 3/5 Sorgalim (Union, NJ) - See all my reviews After reading many reviews myself, I opted for the EUREKA BOSS. I would buy it again.

Newest Update, Jan 3rd, 2013:First off----YES---after 10 full years of use I would buy this unit again, without hesitation, no questions asked. I have used it LIGHT DUTY for the whole 10 years. On mostly hard floors and a couple of area rugs. It has been bullet-proof. I have a canister vac and a swiffer wet-jet for actual cleaning. This is important as the Eureka Easy Clean is a great little LIGHT DUTY, area, hair and crumb removal tool. That is what it is for and it excels at specifically that job.I should rate 5 stars...but it would need just a little bit more suction for that. If eureka increased the motor size (amperage) then it would get 5 stars. But I give it 4.9 for reliability and doing what it was designed to do.Response/rebuttal to a few 1 star reviews here:I am a school teacher. Versatile and great for pet hair

I was pleasantly surprised at the ability of this little vac to pick up pet hair. Removing the handle is accomplished easily to facilitate cleaning pet hair from furniture. The vac can be operated with the revolving brush on or off by selecting the appropriate setting at the switch. It's great for small quick cleanups on carpet or cleaning bare floors. Make no mistake, this is not a replacement for a full-size, full-power vac. As a test I used this product on a section of heavy-traffic carpet that went two weeks without cleaning. It picked up the pet hair fairly well and filled it's dust cup. I then cleaned the same section with a new Bissel Cleanview Bagless upright (I've also written a review for the Bissel). The Bissel picked up enough pet hair, dust and dirt to fill the Eureka's dust cup several times. The dust cup on the Eureka is easy to remove but messy to empty and tapping it to remove the dust results in dust flying everywhere.Keeping in mind what it's... 4/5 F. D. Good value

The Mighty Mite is a decent vacuum cleaner, especially for the money. I've been through 3 vacuums in 2 years, and I know junk when I see it now. And, for the most part, the Mighty Mite isn't junk.Pros: It is very lightweight, has good reach with the telescoping pole, decent suction, and the pet hair attachment seems to work fine on my sofa and rugs. The HEPA filter is a definite plus and my hope is that the quantity of house dust will be seriously lowered. It is easy to move, but could use a longer cord than 20 ft.Cons: The instructions don't even MENTION the pet hair attachment! The only references are on the box it comes in. The suction is adjusted by a rotating ring on the handle, exactly where you hand goes. So, if you accidentally move it to a more closed position while your hand is there, your skin gets sucked in with it. All the attachments do NOT go on the canister. There is provision for one small attachment and the crevice tool onboard... 3/5 Richard Rankin (Missouri) - See all my reviews, April 15, 2009

    A Mighty Vacuum!

I bought this as replacement for our 10 year old original Mighty. My husband refused to throw it out even tho it had no wheels, the hose was entirely duct taped, the handle was screwed into the hose and clamped, and you had to talk softly to it to get it to turn on...It was pitiful to see but it still worked and had massive power. I have replaced it with at least 6 different vacuums and each would end up in the closet and he would bring the broken down Mighty from the garage to my dismay. While shopping online I saw the Mighty Max Pet Lover, I did not know the company still made it. Anyway, I decided on the Pet Lover since we have lots of pets and it has a lot more power for just a little more money! My husband was so excited you would have thought I gave him the winning lottery ticket. (I have a husband that likes to vacuum, however that's all the housework he does but I ain't complaining) Well, it lives up to it's reputation and we can't be happier. Great Vaccuum! A Comparison to the 4870UZ (Bagged) model

I accidently purchased the AS1050A as a second vacuum instead of the Eureka 4870UZ, which I had also recently purchased, to be used in our basement, where our cat and I office together. So, I thought I would provide a bit of a review/comparison of the two machines.I will start by saying that I have finally donated the last of the three Eureka bagless vacuums that I have been using over the course of the last several years. This is not to say that the bagless machines didn't work, however, the cleaning of those types of machines was getting on my nerves. Moving on... and again, the basis of this review is more of a comparison to the 4870UZ (Air Extreme), which is a great vacuum.Assembly of the AS1050A was reasonably simple, and no tools were required. After assembly, I fired up the machine and immediately noticed that weight and handling of the AS1050A was both lighter and easier to handle than the 4870UZ. This could be a result of the fact that the AS1050A... 5/5 Michael D. Zabel (SE Minnesota, USA) - See all my reviews, February 26, 2012

    Great Vacuum for Great Price

After our bagless Dirt Devil Upright's brush roll gave out, we decided it was time for a new vacuum. I never really liked the Dirt Devil anyway, but moving on...this Eureka is a fantastic vacuum. It's attachments are very nice and it converts to various types of flooring quite well, picking up dirt and hair on both hard surfaces and carpet. A great benefit to it is the ability to change the suction to just tools or just floors. The crevice tool on this vacuum is thinner than on our previous vacuums and wet/dry vacs, so we were able to vacuum up dirt and lint from underneath our washer and dryer. The bag system is easy to use and change and it takes longer to fill the bag than it does to fill up a bagless vacuum's dirt cup. We were able to vacuum our whole house with just 1 bag being used and the bag still doesn't need to be changed. The only downside was that the brush roll attachment or "pet paw", doesn't work as good as one would hope, but that's true with all vacuums that... 4/5 Aquilus Domini - See all my reviews This review is from: Eureka AirSpeed Bagged Upright Vacuum, AS1051A (Kitchen) After our bagless Dirt Devil Upright's brush roll gave out, we decided it was time for a new vacuum. AirSpeed® ABS AS1050A review (has turbo brush instead of PET power paw.)

This is an initial review of the AirSpeed ABS AS1050A model. This vacuum features ARM & HAMMER® vacuum bags and is sold exclusively at Walmart. Hence the different model number. The only difference between the models is the AS1051A has the PET power paw attachment. Mine has a turbo brush. The only other difference is my vacuum has a 27' power cord compared to a 30'. Other then that the vacuums are the same per the Eureka website comparing all 3 models listed for the AirSpeed ABS 1050A, 1051A, 1052A series. [...]As to assembly the vacuum it only took me about 15 minutes. I found the instructions adequate for getting the job done. I really appreciated the no-tools and clear instruction labels on the back of the vacuum canister. Everything snapped solidly together and fit tight. I turned it on and tested it out sucking up some pine needles and took it for spin around the living room. It picked up everything that was in it's path. So appears to have plenty of suction to get... 5/5 M. Schmidt - See all my reviews, December 24, 2011

Good Quality Vacuum, Way Better Than Bissell

I'm giving this 5 stars for the time being because it works very well, but I know vacuums decline over time (so my rating could change). I just received this Eureka vacuum in the mail today, and it works miles better than my previous vacuum, a Bissell. I'd had the Bissell for only about 6 months, and it had already quit on me. I thoroughly cleaned and washed all the filters, and it still wasn't working well enough to pull the dog hair out of our new rug (black dog hair and a cream colored rug, so the hair shows badly). So, I decided to replace the Bissell with a higher quality vacuum (the old one was only about $60, this Eureka is 3x the price, although I bought it on sale for $141). I've only used it once, but I'm pleased so far. It pulled ALL the dog hair out of the rug, and it looked very clean for a few hours (until my dog laid down and shed all over the place again.) I'm also pleased with the pet tool hose attachment, which is the first time I've had a brush tool that was... 5/5 Kristen A Wheeler - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Sucked up a bunch of baking soda left behind by a $1350 vacuum

I purchased the Eureka SuctionSeal Pet vacuum (AS1104A) in November 2012, after spending more than a month poring over the Consumer Reports vacuum research and hundreds of online reviews of various top-performing models on Amazon, ConsumerReports.org, and various other stores' websites. At a few points I was pretty much set on buying the Hoover UH70120 or UH70210. But after looking at those and more than a dozen other bagless vacuums in stores, I finally settled on this Eureka because it seemed very similar to the highly-rated AirSpeed Gold (AS1001A), but with a few design improvements that seem to address most of the complaints I've seen in negative reviews of that model. The AS1104A also seems much better built than most competing models, which is evident in everything from the length and quality of the accessory hose, to little things like the quality of the wheels on the machine (actual rubber wheels instead of cheap plastic rollers). The first time we used it, my wife... 4/5 igen "igen" (IA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Eureka SuctionSeal Pet Bagless Upright Vacuum, AS1104A (Misc.) This is one brilliantly engineered vacuum!

This is an excellent vacuum for both pet owners.1. The suction works moving from carpet to linoleum like a dream. It sucks better than a Dyson, they were NOT kidding.2. The entire collection assembly comes apart in the kitchen sink for sanitizing, INCLUDING the filter.3. No clogged tubes, I've gone through five vacuums in 7 years from clogged pet hair issues. This one, no issues whatsoever.4. I don't mean to sound gross, but if you have an old cat or dog with IBC issues, you know that their bloody poo surprises that they try to put in dark places, like behind furniture, dries like concrete to the carpet by the time you find it, and it's hours scrubbing with gloves on to get up. The hand held Pet Hair attachment can break up the hardened mess and sucks it up.5. The Pet attachment has a magnet on it so it STAYS PUT. No more knocking off while you're vacuuming, and having to pick it up over and over (take a note, Sears).6. The cord is the... 5/5 Mrs. Jones - See all my reviews This review is from: Eureka SuctionSeal Pet Bagless Upright Vacuum, AS1104A (Misc.) This is an excellent vacuum for both pet owners.1. A Good Machine...

I bought this vacuum strictly for the basement(where our Home Theatre is set up). It was a pain in the *ss carrying our canister up and down all the time, so I happened upon this cleaner on sale at Home Depot for a mere $70.00... I was initially skeptical at first, I mean a $70 vacuum? However, I purchased it anyway, knowing that I would be able to return it if I wasn't happy. The setup and assembly was fairly quick. The instructions were easy to follow and featured step-by-step illustrations. When I had everything ready to go, I decided to give it a "test run", and I was impressed. I was amazed at the junk our Sears Canister was leaving behind, as I watched the cat hair and dust swirling around in the collection bin. My only complaint-and this is common with bagless vacs in general-is that you MUST clean the filter off after every use, otherwise they tend to plug up and overheat the motor. This is especially true if you have multiple pets, or longhaired cats. In conclusion,... 4/5 KarenFan (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews This review is from: Eureka LightSpeed Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 4700D (Kitchen) I bought this vacuum strictly for the basement(where our Home Theatre is set up). Read BEFORE Replacing - Great Cheap Vacuum

This vac worked great out of the box, took about 10 minutes to assemble and worked great for the first year. After that it was all downhill. Also, never worked well on hard floors, and I don't think it was intended to. This is a carpet vac, therefore use the wand on hard floors. Rated 5* for price to quality ratio.I'm going to say this vacuum has the "getting fat phenomenon". You know how when you're gaining weight, you never notice unless you look at old pictures or lose the weight and get "back to normal"? Well that's what happened with this vac. I'd been figuring it was always crappy, or the carpet in my apartment was going to hell because it wouldn't pick up lint, fuzz, hair, ANYTHING. It was basically only working on suction mode with the wand. This is because I was frequently cleaning the reusable filter, can and roller brush but it had a bad (NOT broken belt). Long story short, if you notice ANY burning smell, or lack of pick up on carpet with... 5/5 Scott Stegman - See all my reviews This review is from: Eureka LightSpeed Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 4700D (Kitchen) This vac worked great out of the box, took about 10 minutes to assemble and worked great for the first year. Great for carpet BUT blows hair, dust & dirt bunnies around on hard floors

I only write reviews for products that I wish I had been warned about before I purchased them. This vacuum has a lot of great points, including being lightweight, extremely easy to maneuver, having a powerful suction, and being only 13" wide so as to fit between my 18 dining and chairs and barstools without having to move them. The first time I used the vacuum it was on carpet and I was very pleased. However, today I tried to vacuum my kitchen, breakfast area, and foyer (ceramic tile) and noticed that dust bunnies and stray hairs were actually flying all over in the air! I took a good look at my new vacuum and discovered that the exhaust jetstream turbo vents were located - of all places - in the front of the vacuum - the exhaust vents powerfully in the same direction as you are vacuuming! I do need more exercise; just didn't think that I would get it having to constantly chase down dust bunnies as they sail around in the air. LOL I guess I'm going to move this vacuum to my... 3/5 Sharman L. Beltran (New Orleans, LA) - See all my reviews, December 6, 2007

    EXCELLENT vacuum!!!

I've had this vacuum for several months now, and I'm quite puzzled by the negative reviews it's gotten. It DOES sound like maybe there were some lemons out there, but once these folks figured out how to work it, or got it replaced it was ok.We have 2 very long-haired dogs--there is always a TON of dog hair on the carpet. Plus we're all "indoor outdoor" so there's plenty of dirt getting tracked on our carpets too. I vacuum about once a week. I turn this vac on and it does an awesome job--it's got so much suction that I have to turn down the volume when I go over my throw rugs or it lifts them off the ground. It has incredible suction through the wand too--I have nabbed flying insects from several inches away this last week--hah!I can't stand the enormous mess of bagless vacs (a ridiculous trend in vacs if you need heavy duty cleaning), and this vac has disposable HEPA bags--which was tops on my list. The bags that are meant to be purchased with it contain... 5/5 2traveling - See all my reviews This review is from: Eureka Boss SmartVac Pet Lover Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner, 4870SZ (Kitchen) I've had this vacuum for several months now, and I'm quite puzzled by the negative reviews it's gotten. cleans excellant and great vaue for money

0 5/5 Auto Tech - See all my reviews This review is from: Eureka Boss SmartVac Pet Lover Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner, 4870SZ (Kitchen) I have owned this vacuum for two years and have never had a problem. This vacuum performs! It picks up everything and makes our carpet look new again. Pet hair no problem, no odor or dust with HEPA filter. The pet paw is a very useful tool. As far as other reviews, I have read everything from brushes burning up to belts breaking. All I can say is READ THE OWNERS MANUAL BEFORE OPERATING!!! No suction...check the select knob for hose. Vacuum hard to push...set adjust knob for carpet to a higher setting. The brush is so powerful if set too low it will pull up loose carpet and drag itself across the floor. This could lead to broken belts and brushes. This adjustment is very important! Maintain your brush roller, long hair can get wrapped up in and cause brush roller to melt. This a very powerful machine by far the best vacuum for the price that I have ever owned! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 31, 2010

Fantastic, battery lasted 5 years....Filter cleaning tip...

We bought this when our first child learned to crawl and we had to clean crumbs, etc off the floor before she ate them. Now we're again finding it indispensable for number two and three (now ages 1, 3, and 5)I like it for:1) Handle installs and removes quickly and easily.2) vacuum hangs easy on the charger - some other ones we've had are tricky to pop into the charger correctly if you want it to be installed vertically.3) Power roller bar - really sucks up those cheerios quickly, even on hard floors.4) Easily removable battery - charger has a second battery charging slot so you can swap out. When I bought this the cashier at Target told me that this was what they used to clean up spills in the store. It's now almost 3 years old and the battery is starting to show it's age (It's easily removable so I'll be buying a spare soon)UPDATE: The original battery is still going strong. Great Cordless Vac for Light Cleaning

After reading the reviews on various stick vacs, I decided to go with this one as suggested by one reviewer. I am not disappointed. I bought it to pick up dog fur off my hardwood floors in between cleaning my house with the full size vac. It was worth every penny. Unlike some others, this vac has a roller brush that you can turn on/off so its great on both hardwood floors and carpet. And when I clean up the dog fur off my floors it doesn't blow it around like some other stick vacs I have tried, it actually picks it up! In addition, the quick up serves as a handvac, which is nice for cleaning up the furniture. The only flaw I've found is that the dust cup is a little messy to empty. But to avoid this, after I vacuum I just empty it outside in my garbage can, and bang it against the side of the garbage can a few times to remove the remaining dust in the filter. This is the same for any bagless vac.Let me note, this vac is for LIGHT CLEANING ONLY! Word of caution

0 5/5 man_from_earth "Rob" (earth) - See all my reviews I've researched cordless stick vacs and finally decided on this one. I just bought it a Target for [...] bucks. If you've done your due diligence and have looked at reviews of the Eureka Quick Up vacuums, know that this particular model only has one battery. Replacement batteries will run you 20 dollars and up. Earlier Eureka Quick Up models, at roughly the same price, came with two batteries. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 21, 2009
