Not the strongest vacuum, but it's automated. The trade-off may be worth it.

0 4/5 Mr. Who - See all my reviews This review is from: iRobot Roomba 560 Automatic Robotic Vacuum (Certified Refurbished) (Electronics) The roomba makes transition from hardwood floor to carpeted floor without problems, cleans the carpet and hardwood floor well enough. After using it for few days I feel the strength in the roomba is in automation. It cannot be compared to manually operated full-sized vacuums, but still it's a good vacuum. It won't leave your floor completely clean - there will be some dust and particles remaining behind. It won't (cannot) take care of every nook and cranny. You can set a schedule and forget about it (provided you keep wires and such items away from roomba), so at the end of the day some vacuuming will be done. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 28, 2014

Great but not perfect ***Downgraded Star Rating***

My wife and I decided to get one of these because our 8 month old son is about to start crawling. While we try and keep our floors clean, our beagle has other thoughts as she sheds all over the place. We went with the latest 560 model as it has just about everything we would want with a product like this. It works as advertised and we will definitley keep it but there are some areas that need improvement. Here is a quick breakdown of the pros and consPros1. Quieter than a standard vaccuum2. Seems to learn the room dimensions quickly. The virtual walls and lighthouse feature are very nice.3. Is "smart" enough to avoid getting tangled in our area rugs4. Obviously easy to use as it is just a push of a button (or even better when you program it)5. Can use everyday to keep the floors spotless6. Have successfully used it on hard wood, vinyl, carpet and (accidently) concrete7. Cleans... 4/5 M. Kelley "mpkelley20" (MA United States) - See all my reviews, September 16, 2007

A Worthy Successor to the Roomba Line

We have two Roombas plus a Scooba in our house. When one of the batteries on one of our Roombas finally reached the end of its life cycle, we decided to donate that Roomba to a friend and to get ourselves the new top of the line - the Roomba 560. We got this right when it first came out, but we waited several months before posting a review. It's pretty much impossible to review one of these Roombas after only a few days! It takes weeks if not months to start to see how well they last over time, and what breaks down. Believe me - been there, done that.So now it's many months later, and I have to say, we are quite pleased with the improvements of this Roomba over the previous generations of Roombas. So first, for those who don't even have ANY Roomba yet (hard to believe!). Roombas are awesome. We have cats, and we work from home so we're home all day. It is AMAZING how much dirt and dust and junk collects in the carpet every single day. Who really has time to vacuum their... 5/5 Lisa Shea "be the change you wish to see in t... - See all my reviews, December 12, 2007

Beware of the "new" Roomba 560 now only for single room (updated review)

UPDATE 12/19/2011My review in late 2007 describing the red side brush "amputee" problem and poor customer support is still the highest rated critical response on Amazon. Because of that experience, the recounting of which is in the original review appended below after this update, I had not bought an iRobot product in over four years. Now I have bought two "new" 560s, which arrived today (more about "new" below). This update is primarily for (i) previous owners of a 560 that are contemplating buying a "new" 560 or (ii) those that have information on the original 560 and mistakenly believe that this is what they will get if they order a "new" 560.If it were not for the problems discussed in this update, I would raise my rating to 3.5 stars. Once again, I think iRobot may be shooting itself in the foot. And what upsets me is that I really want to see this company succeed.By way of disclosure I have owned several of every generation of Roomba. 0 5/5 drexel75 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaner (Home) I used to have to vacuum everyday because of dog hair. Now this roomba does it for me and gets the carpets a whole lot cleaner than my other vacuum.EDIT: One year later and this baby keeps ticking. This is by far the best purchase i have made of my entire life. Im not kidding. I have a German Shedder that keeps the floor covered in hair and this thing takes care of it. Refurbished? only difference is i got a better deal. Ive dropped this thing numerous times and it keeps ticking. spilled stuff on it. you name it. Just needs maintenence to keep it clean - the brushes collect hair after a while. Im only on my second filter - they last a long time. Its about time to change the brushes but it still works like a charm.Summary: If you have a bad shedding animal then this item will change your life. no more vacuuming everyday. You do have to empty it everyday but thats easy to do. Buy this now if you got fur problems. It cleans the floor like you wouldnt believe. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 8, 2012

    like it a lot

0 4/5 Gary "GR" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaner (Home) The pros:You can schedule it to clean and never touch it again except to empty the dirt.It does a good job of cleaning hardwood floors on my main level (kitchen, hall, living and dining rooms), moves around furniture nicely, and is reliable. The floor never looks dirty or dusty, and there is always a good deal of dirt in the unit to empty indicating that it works.Ihe Cons:It is a little loud, and more importantly it tends to climp up the leg of a coffee table and just shut off.I do recommend the unit, it saves me a great deal of effort every week. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 26, 2011

    Took a gamble and won!

I usually don't buy refurbished products, especially ones as complex as this, but the refurbishment was done by iRobot, not some 3rd party, so I hoped it was done right. The unit did not charge out of the box, but a 10 min call to iRobot tech support got me a new power cord for the charging station shipped free.Once charged, the unit performed perfectly, and I discovered that it was already upgraded to the aerovac bin, which was a bonus. The battery started to not hold a charge after a few months, but since I knew that this is the case with any refurbished item including phones and laptops, (it usually always has the original battery) I wasn't concerned. I went to my local Batteries Plus and picked up a new Rayovac battery for it for $50 and now it runs like new for way less money.Note: the unit has a "cliff sensor" that is supposed to sense a drop-off. I have a 2 inch high step down to my living room that it does not see and gets hung up on. I put one of the... 5/5 Matt - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Review From A Robotic Vacuum Junkie!!

Customer Video Review Length:: 5:52 Mins As some of you may know by now I love Robotic Vacuums so any chance I get to right a review on one I take it. Over the past 7 years I have owned probably over 12 robotic vacuums. Most being Irobot Roombas. I started with the Roomba Red and feel in love since. The Roomba Red performed very well for an early bird on the robotic vacuum market. I have owned almost all models of the Roomba all the way up to the current 670 I own. I also own a Neato XV11 and a LG Hombot. At one time I even had a Canadian Samsung Navibot and loved it until it wore out. Ok now onto the main star for today the Moneual MR6550 Rydis. Hope you had a chance to view my short video and if it helps anyone then that is great. I received the Rydis about a week ago and was very impressed with the packaging, not cheap, but very well designed and a lot of details were printed on exterior but who really cares about the outside it's what is side that counts. I quickly unboxed it and... 4/5 Michael Countryman "mike the camera man" (pelzer, sc) - See all my reviews, February 25, 2013

Adequate, but not great - 3.5 stars

The biggest problem I have with this unit is the lack of a floor-height sensor. We have about 2,000 square feet of hardwood downstairs, but all the bedrooms are carpeted and the bathrooms and laundry room are tiled. The 3/4" hardwood stands 1 1/2" higher than the tile or carpet, as there is 3/4" plywood foundation under it. The robot will drive off the wood and then promptly get stuck in whatever room it comes to. You MUST close doors if you use this on hardwoods, or you'll be searching for your stranded robot. The vacuum works fairly well, but it is not revolutionary by any means. My wife and I got it set up and put it to work and found that the vacuuming power of the unit is not that great, as we put sawdust on a rug and let the robot loose. The robot started by making random passes at what appeared to be 45-degree angles and didn't really come back to cover the areas it missed. It just ran off the edge of the rug, then onto the hardwood and down the hall. It... 4/5 TheTerrorBeyond (Tartarus) - See all my reviews This review is from: Moneual MR6550 Rydis Hybrid Robot Vacuum and Dry Mop Cleaner (Misc.) Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?) Flawed design--not ready for consumers

I've been running the Moneual for a few months now, and I've definitely concluded that it is way inferior to my latest-generation Roomba. In fact, it drives me nuts and sometimes barely works. It is constantly (constantly!) getting stuck on everything from heating vents in the floor to literally the wall itself--it starts climbing the molding and gets stuck half on the wall. It is also constantly getting clogged on the input slot. The pet hair/dirt/whatever gets in the slot but not all the way into the dust trap, so it clogs and either gives an error message or keeps going without picking much more up. I have to use a hand vacuum to clear the input slot at least twice on an average run.Over and over, the Roomba makes me happy and this Moneual irritates me. If you are going to buy a robotic floor vacuum, I urge you not to spend your money on this vacuum but choose a Roomba instead.Other thoughts: In one test I did, I ran each robot on different... 1/5 Unity Dienes (Hollis, NH) - See all my reviews, March 14, 2013
