The Roomba 500 series almost perfected.

I've got three Roomba 500s (a pair of 560s and a 570), and I love 'em. Rock solid reliable, easy to work on, and do a great job keeping my floors clean. These Roombas aren't toys, they actually clean the floors. In fact I've gone behind them with my Dyson just out of morbid curiosity and all I got was an empty bin. Sure, a Roomba can't pick up as much dirt as a regular vacuum in one pass, but that's why they're programmed to cover the same area of carpet multiple times. And in some ways the Roomba is better than my Dyson. Why?Areas of my house that get vacuumed every week without effort:* Under my bed.* Under my dresser.* In the back corners of my closet where a regular vacuum can't go.* Underneath my reclining theater seats.* Under my basement work bench and utility sink.* ...and on and on...The 600s series is even better, as they include the Aero Vac dust bin, and the upgraded cleaning head module from the 700... 5/5 Ryan Barnhart (Cincinnati, OH USA) - See all my reviews, September 24, 2012

    IRobots never die

This is my fourth IRobot and they never seem to die. The first three are still going strong after several years of use, without any problems or any repairs aside from a yearly new battery. Just make sure to leave these plugged into the wall, sitting in their docks, all the time to keep the battery from dying prematurely. It also helps to preserve the battery to fully run them at least once a week but it's not critical to do that.I empty the dirt canisters and clean the brushes after every use, which I don't find to be a problem at all. I have a Scuba also, the floor mopping robot, of the same brand, and it also is a workhorse. I've told all my friends about my IRobots, and several have gotten them and love them too. One of them said that after a while his Roomba started going in circles but I told him to turn it over and check out the brush and front wheel for anything caught on it and sure enough, he cleaned a long thread from the front drive wheel and it's good as... 5/5 AKN - See all my reviews, October 19, 2012

    iRobot 630 best purchase!

0 5/5 KHenery - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: iRobot Roomba 630 Vacuum Cleaning Robot for Pets (Misc.) I recently purchased the iRobot 630 for Pets and it has gone above and beyond my expectations. I have an 80 lb. Lab and a huge longhaired cat, so I was skeptical of how this vacuum would handle all of the animal hair and dirt they track inside. I have to say this vacuum does a better job than I do manually vacuuming with my Dyson! My roomba carefully cleans along the baseboard and legs of furniture with her brush to remove any and all traces of pet hair, dust, and debris. As well, it has no problem cleaning an assortment of rugs including a large cowhide. The iRobot uses a zig zag type manuever to ensure all 1200 sq ft is perfectly clean. Cleaning the brushes and emptying the disposal unit is a breeze, and it keeps its charge for about 2 hours. After it has finished its cleaning cycle, or is tired the Roomba carefully docks itself back onto the charger. I would definately reccomend this product! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 21, 2012

    Amazing

A year ago my wife and I bought a fairly large house with beautiful dark hardwood floors throughout. Now add nine (9) grandchildren and constant, never-ending construction in the backyard and you can imagine how difficult it has been to keep the floors clean. After researching all the usual suspects, we settled on the Roomba 595 because of that model's cost/benefit and the preponderance of very positive reviews. Although we were still skeptical, we thought we would give it a try because of the liberal return policy of Costco.Bottom-line after 2 weeks of us getting acquainted with Olga...she is simply amazing. I say get acquainted because it took some time to discover her idiosyncrasies. Here are some of our observations and conclusions.* Spend a couple of minutes picking up small loose items such as trash cans, cords, and chairs. Although she can maneuver around them, she works better when she has room to move.* Keep her empty and clean. She will... 5/5 DAB11 - See all my reviews This review is from: Irobot Roomba 595 Series A year ago my wife and I bought a fairly large house with beautiful dark hardwood floors throughout. Roomba 500 Series Review

I have read so many reviews for the Roomba & Scooba and I have found so many people have so many great things to say and others say it's just OK, while some hate it.I'm here to set the record straight on these Robots. First off, I don't work for get compensated from iRobot nor do I sell them. Here's the low down on the Roomba. There are many different models sold by different stores, Sams Club, Costco, iRobot Direct or other retailers. Some of them are the same model, just come with extra virtual walls, filters, brushes etc. I have owned 3 different model Roomba's all in the 500 series line. I returned my first one because it was white and I really wanted a black one but could not find it anywhere. OK, so I'm biased on the color of my electronics, yes, I like all black electronics in my home. The second was returned after I found another 500 series black one that had a built in scheduler which is a MUST HAVE in my opinion if you truly want to automate... 5/5 Andrew (Fort Lauderdale, FL USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Irobot Roomba 595 Series I have read so many reviews for the Roomba & Scooba and I have found so many people have so many great things to say and others say it's just OK, while some hate it.I'm here to set the record straight on these Robots. Roombaaaa!

0 5/5 Goki - See all my reviews This review is from: Irobot Roomba 595 Series I bought this item from Costco for less price and I should say I am satisfied more than I was expecting. It works as it is advertised and as being a computer scientist I find the AI algorithm that makes it a "robot" very smart and consistent. Recommendations to buyers:*Before running the first time do your own usual vacuum cleaning.*Before running the robot do some tiny plannings like where to put virtual doors in order to share the whole house into separate tasks.*Try to be careful about items on the floor before start using. In fact this pushes people living in the house to be well organized all time. I think this is one of the parts of the game :)* I prefer to clean it every three days.* Run it every day. But each run per day should be a small area or one roomMe and my wife are not doing vacuum cleaning anymore since roomba takes care of it when we are not at home... 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 27, 2012

    New Roomba vs. Old

If you are new to Roomba, you will wonder if it is worthwhile. The answer is clearly YES, since anything it cleans is that much less for you to clean. However, which is better, the old (and cheaper) Roomba, or the new models like the 530?First, the 530 comes with the charging/base station, and this is very useful. I have placed this in the entranceway which leads into the livingroom, the kitchen or the bedroom. Using the virtual walls (included), I block off rooms so that it can only do the entranceway + 1 other room. I simply press the "Clean" button, and it backs itself off the charging stand and then spends the next 2 hours cleaning, finally returning to the charging stand. Nice!Should you upgrade from an older model Roomba (I now use my old Roomba upstairs)? It depends on your situation. By-the-way, the old virtual walls do NOT work with the new Roomba.New Roomba:Fall down stairs? NeverClimb onto thick throw rugs... 4/5 D. C. It's Like a Beloved Pet Who MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER

Awesome. This new generation fixes all the problems of the previous. Much smarter, much bigger dust bin, much better in every way. Great that it self-docks when tired. Maintanence is a snap...really could not be easier/faster. There are some negatives - how could there not be? - but this thing has such a contagious personality that it starts feeling like your pet, and you're inclined to forgive, and even find the faults charming. You have to prep the room (cords up and out of the way, no papers or clutter on the floor, move small items out of the room and learn which objects present problems and get them out of the way). Performance varies on throw rugs (it's great on rug/carpet surfaces themselves, but Roomba can get caught up as it travels over edges of throw rugs that don't have much weight or cling). It's good at slowing down and banging objects gently, but less so on narrow vertical objects (e.g. piano legs), which it really clunks (not enough to damage, but it will... 5/5 New Yawkuh "New Yawkuh" (Queens, NY United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: iRobot 530 Roomba Vacuuming Robot, White (Kitchen) Awesome. A Great Product Made Even Better

With two dogs in the house we could not live without our Roomba. The 530 is a vast improvement from earlier models. It seems to pick up more dirt, the battery life is longer, the fast-charge is about 33% more rapid than its Discovery predecessors and it is generally more quiet. The new sensors that prevent the robot from "speed-bumping" into furniture are a very nice touch, but beware if the robot is in a tight area, it may appear sluggish -- the sensors are working to continually slow it down. It's a feature I like, but need to get used to.My only concern with this robot is the high cost of parts. The bot itself is cheaper than earlier models but the components most prone to breakage or wear-out are twice the cost so the lifetime operation costs may be higher. Replacement batteries are nearly $100. Earlier models were $50.ONE MONTH LATER ....This is a slight amend to my review above.
