Take This Stuff and Hack It!

Creator: Dave Prochnow | 2006-08-23

This product enables anyone to access and control all of the functions of a Roomba. Did you program Roomba with an eye toward designing a product like Mind Control which would allow users to “program” the robot themselves? Actually, no.

    ttyUSB* happens right now !

0 5/5 evL - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Plugable USB to RS-232 DB9 Serial Adapter (Prolific PL2303HX Rev D Chipset) (Personal Computers) I just wanted to state that this is a perfect USB to Serial Converter for use with the Linux OS. I had been looking for a USB/SerialConv and noticed that this one, and this is key, has the Prolific PL2303HX Chipset. Which, for most newer Kernels, is plug and play. I would have liked to seen a review like this when I was checking the item out but was pretty sure on the chipset. So I thought I'd give a review in case other Linux users are wondering. Anyhow, I took it out of the box, plugged it in, and had a ttyUSB* device show up in # dmesg. I didn't use the CD at all. The CD is for winDoze users. Worked great with Novell SuSe and Debian. Price? Just right! Ok folks, have fun... 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 5, 2011

    Very Good Serial-USB Adapter

0 5/5 Neil D. (North Pole, AK United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Plugable USB to RS-232 DB9 Serial Adapter (Prolific PL2303HX Rev D Chipset) (Personal Computers) This is a very good Serial-USB adapter. Not much than can be said about it except that it installs easily and works flawlessly. Installing the drivers one time from the provided DVD enabled every USB port in my machine to recognize the adapter immediately. This is important to me because I own another brand of Serial-USB adapter that requires the drivers to be separately installed on each USB port to be used, which is a real bother.I would definitely recommend this product to anyone having a need for a Serial-USB adapter. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 26, 2010

Why didn't I know about this sooner

0 5/5 Rita Mizell (houston texas) - See all my reviews This review is from: Irobot® Roomba® 585 Vacuum Cleaning Robot with AeroVac Technology (Kitchen) Forever, I have been sweeping and vacuuming my house every day because of two dogs and a cat, 2 parrots. I saw this at Costco and on a whim bought it. It was all ready to charge, and then push the button, and omg, it cleaned my whole house better than I ever have, behind chairs, under chairs, tables, corners, unbelievable!! I had to empty the dust bin twice, completely full of pet fur and dirt, and I was thinking the floors were already fairly clean. Don't even think about it, just get one I will run it every day and pretend the maid just left. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 3, 2013

cleans effectively in a house with dogs and many birds

I have 2 dogs and seventeen birds. The bin is large enough to clean my bird room if used every three days, otherwise it would stop before the floor was finished. When it hits a power cord it switches from clean mode to escape from the cord mode until it gets away from it, so moving power cords to where they won't get in its way will result in a more thorough job. This model only comes with one spare filter and one virtual wall, which in a poor design decision was made to take c batteries. Since rechargeable c batteries are overpriced compared to AA, I simply fold a sheet of paper each around the two AA batteries to make them fit. This method worked fine in allowing me to use AA rechargeable batteries on the virtual wall instead of c batteries and isn't hard to do with just two batteries. The virtual wall turns itself off after 1.5 hours to conserve power so I haven't had to recharge them yet. The virtual wall has been working fine to restrict Roomba to one room at a... 4/5 Kurt Massat - See all my reviews This review is from: Irobot® Roomba® 585 Vacuum Cleaning Robot with AeroVac Technology (Kitchen) I have 2 dogs and seventeen birds. not the same Roomba??

0 5/5 Ms Lulubelle "Lulubelle" (Maryland) - See all my reviews This review is from: Irobot® Roomba® 585 Vacuum Cleaning Robot with AeroVac Technology (Kitchen) I bought this on a whim at Sam's Club and will have to say, buy it at Amazon instead! I got only one Lighthouse and no remote. However, it picks up a lot more dirt than I thought I it would, so I'm pretty happy with it.It can't read your mind, so instead of cleaning the kitchen like I want it to, it keeps going back into the TV room. I'll have to figure out some barriers to keep it in one room at a time.I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and the dogs bring in real dirt along with the hair and dust, and my pet Roomba actually picks it all up. This little critter will make less work for me. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 11, 2013
