  Excellent Cleaner

  I have been using the Dolphin Nautilus for about 2 months now and so far been completely satisfied. This cleaner comes with 2 different types of removable screens that trap the dirt from the pool. One is for heavy leaf and debris pick up while the other is more for finer particulates. They are very easy to remove, clean, and reinstall. I actually prefer this type as opposed to the "bag" type I had been accustomed to using. The power cord is a little longer than other robotic cleaners I have used and seems to not twist up in knots. The cleaner completely removes dirt from my pool (20' X 40'inground) in about 2 hours. Rarely it might miss a small leaf or two but for the most part does an excellent job. It will also climb the walls preventing any dirt or algae buildup. The pump that makes the water flow through its filtration system appears to be quite strong. When the cleaner is in the shallow end you can really see the water rippling the surface of the water.   Excellent Pool Cleaner!

  This cleaner is moderately priced, but has outstanding performance. I could not believe the minute floor debris the Nautilus picked up. The unit takes about 3 hours to complete it's cycle around the pool and then shuts off. Cleaning the unit is very straightforward and simple. In my previous pool, I was plumbed for a Polaris system which I truely liked. This was impossible in my current pool, so I opted for a robotic cleaner. The Nautilus takes out more fine debris than the Polaris and albeit it not as quickly.   Great product

  I have a 75 foot lap pool in a high dust area. This product works extremely well for me. I probably spent ten hours researching all types of pool cleaners and finally went with this because of the Amazon reviews.It cleans, climbs the walls works, and works on an underwater shelf. I still brush the corners and periodically brush the pool to loosen debris, but I am very happy so far with this product.Update one month later:Still love this unit!   I purchased my Dolphin Diagnostic four years ago at our local Leslie's. I had a Kreepy Krauly which worked fairly well but, since my pool has only one skimmer inlet, the surface wouldn't get adequately skimmed when the KK was being used (even with the KK skimmer plate which allowed for some skimming while vacuuming). While we don't have many trees in West Texas, any that are shed seem to end up in my pool ;-)I have been completely satisfied with the Dolphin. In the four years I have owned it I have needed only two repairs -- the first about 2 years ago was done under warranty and required sending the Dolphin to a repair station. This winter my Dolphin stopped moving and I tracked (pun intended) the problem to a worn drive track. I was able to fix this myself after ordering the correct parts.While not having many trees, West Texas does have a lot of dust and wind.   great cleaning but motors burn out too quick

  I have owned a Dolphin for more than 2 years now and needed service twice already. The problem is always the same: the motor. So in two years I'm on my third motor and just recently it stooped working with the exact same symptoms again. The first two times it was under warranty, but now the replacement motor would cost me more than $500. Which I'm not willing to pay knowing it will last less than a year again.If it works, the Dolphin cleans great and overall I was pretty happy with it apart from the three motor defects.So in the end I would not recommend it and definitely will not buy another Dolphin. 2/5 David Hofmann - See all my reviews, April 10, 2009

  Avoid

  In the 4 years that I have owned this product, the motor died twice in less than 4 years. The first time the motor died, Maytronics replaced it. Now the second time Robostar/Maytronics (Israeli company) won't fix it. WARNING: THE 3 YEAR WARRANTEE STARTS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE AND DOES NOT EXTEND IF THEY REPLACE THE MOTOR. They replaced the motor in 2007 and it died in 2008. They will not replace it. They want $900 for a replacement. I said no way. They won't ship it back to me unless I pay a $100 diagnostic fee.   The Dolphin is our friend!

  We purchased the Dolphin about a month ago and have been amazed at the technology of this product. Our pool is sparkling clean thanks to the Dolphin. Instead of spending hours vacuuming the pool, we spend hours poolside, watching the Dolphin do our work for us.   This is the BEST investment for our pool EVER !!!!!! this gets the pool spotless. I have a irregularly shaped rounded pool ( blue lagoon) and it gets ever inch- EXCEPT it cannot get up the steps. it goes up the walls to waterline. we have a 19x39 pool , about 15,000 gallons and it takes about 3 hours for a sparkling clean pool.i have now had this pool cleaner for a season and the only negative i have with it, is the cheap construction of the rack that it sits on . it is made of plastic and very flimsy, the screws keep coming out also. 5/5 robin august (CLAYTON, DE, US) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)   Loved my Dolphin & it really took a lot of abuse!

  I purchased a Dolphin and used and abused it for 6 summers. That thing took a licken and kept on tickin. We bought a house with a large, 35,000 gallon, 10-foot deep, 25 x 50 foot gunnite pool and had no idea what we were doing. The first summer we had two problems, 1) we needed to have water trucked in to open it since we have well water and 2, we needed to figure out how to get all that gunk off the cover. To make a long story short all the gunk ended up IN our pool which turned forrest green. It was so nasty the pool guy wouldn't even put his hand in it because he was afraid of snakes. That week I purchased a Dolphin to help us out. We tossed it in, not having a clue how deep the pool was or what the heck was in that water. The pool was so bad that every 12-hours I cleaned and reset the Dolphin and backwashed my pool filter.   Not Impressed..

  When I purchased my home several years ago, the previous owners left me their older model Aquabot Pool Vacuum to clean the pool. This machine worked great. It efficiently cleaned leaves and debris from the bottom and kept the pool walls spotless. My only complaint with this machine is that it would occasionally get caught on the main drain and couldn't disengage from it. After it finally went to AquaBot Heaven, I purchased a Dolphin.The Dolphin was highly recommended by our local pool supply store. After anxiously installing this machine and expecting it to surpass my old Aquabot, I was sorely disappointed. The Dolphin works on a timer and it seems that everytime I went out to check the pool, it was still dirty and the Dolphin was taking a break. In addition the cord would relentlessly get tangled and limit the travel of the machine.   I loved it until I hated it

  We bought a Polaris 9300xi pool cleaner through another source (sorry Amazon...their price was impossible to beat) in June 2012, just two months prior to this writing. It worked incredibly well, and was getting sand out of the pool that we never knew was there because our previous cleaner wasn't picking it up. Well, fast-forward a couple months to today. I put the cleaner in this morning and went back out later to take a water sample for testing and saw that one of the rear wheels had come off. I thought maybe I could just snap it back on, but no, it had broken off at the hub. Upon inspecting the wheel, I found the center material is made of VERY thin plastic, so it came as no surprise that this happened.   Give how easy it was to get this in the pool and running I gave this device 4 stars. Amazon delivered it fast, large box, pull out the device out, remove a plastic bag, take it down to the pool with the control unit, connect the unit via a long fat cord connected to the unit, submerge slowly in the pool, your ready. As with any device using random patterns to clean it can be a bit disconcerting to watch it take off on a long run to turn around and start off in a new direction. For me there were a couple surprises. 0) the unit is connected to the control unit which is mounted to the cart by a long thick electrical cord. The cord is fairly fat and floats. The manual says deploy it on the surface of the water without and tight curls or overlays. About 15 minutes in to operation the cord is spagetti on the surface of the water (the device only occasionally seem to be affect by cord tug) 1) I have a rectangle shaped pool 16x32.   Best Pool Cleaner on the market

  I have now had my Polaris for over a year and by far it is the best pool cleaner I have had (this being the third). The first cleaner was attached to a pool pump. I constantly fought with this unit and when the pump went out after just 5 years, I was looking for a non-pump cleaner.The second cleaner I got was admittedly cheap. However, it actually did a better job than the pump version. Unfortunately, it only lasted a year before the blades broke off on the motor and the motor gave out. So....I decided to go for the top-of-the-line cleaner. I knew that Polaris was very fond of their products and charged a pretty premium, but I was tired of dealing with sub-par products. It was difficult parting with the money on this unit, but I soon found out why it costs more - because it is of a much higher quality.The Polaris climbs the walls of my pool and scrubs them better than I do with a brush. It needs it's own pump to work off the pressure (return) side of the pool verse the suction (skimmer/side port) side.I have several customers with these cleaners installed (Two with Polaris 180 models which means that after 15 years they are still working fine) and all work off the same principal. The Polaris pump sends high pressure to the line the Polaris is attached to spinning the wheels and moving the cleaner. Every few minutes the Backup valve activates and reverses the cleaner (prevents it from getting stuck in one area).These cleaners work well if they are set up correctly.   After receiveing the $85 quote to repair my aging Polaris cleaner I knew it was time for a new one. With all the incentives on the 380 or 3900 I was going to go with the 380 which was actually cheaper (after incentives) than the 280 but I started asking around - mostly pool professionals - and all (8 for 8) recommeneded the 280 even if the price were higher.We are happy with the purchase and I was able to save over $100 by buying off Amazon vs. any retail store.   I have tried a number of pool cleaners. Kreepy Krauly was worthless - gets stuck in corners, wears out your pump faster because of its action, gets clogged easily. Dolphin - biggest waste of money I've ever seen, don't get me started. My neighbor has the Polaris 360 that works off the return line - he hates it, these "Lo-pressure" cleaners do not work well. So when I drained my pool to have it replastered, I decided to install a booster pump and new line so that I could have a Polaris 280. Best decision I ever made. Cleans pool great.   Pray you never need warranty work

  I purchased an Aquabot when it first came out for an in-ground caged pool back in Florida. Had a Kreepy Krawley before that. Both worked great for cleaning up ants, sand and other minute debris that might work through the pool cage when it rained.Ten years go by. I now live in the mid-Atlantic region. Have a 20 x 40 in-ground open sky saltwater pool with heat pump, sand filter and an AutoPilot saltwater chlorinating system. I bought another Aquabot... but this time bought the Turbo T-4 w/ remote from[...] online. I was sold on being able to do quick pool touch-ups using the remote control, and a 4 year warranty.Worked great at first, but the advantages quickly fade when used in the 'no pool cage' pool. Leaves, acorns, pine needles, tiny twigs and anything else the wind feels like blowing into the pool will quickly fill up the small filter bag. I bought another Aquabot... but this time bought the Turbo T-4 w/ remote from[...] online. I was sold on being able to do quick pool touch-ups using the remote control, and a 4 year warranty.Worked great at first, but the advantages quickly fade when used in the 'no pool cage' pool. Leaves, acorns, pine needles, tiny twigs and anything else the wind feels like blowing into the pool will quickly fill up the small filter bag.   1 Year Later... Still love it!

  I bought the Aquabot T4 about 1 year ago after brushing the pool for days to clean up the algae. It was an expensive purchase and my wife thought I got another expensive toy. After we used it for a year (but left it off during the winter), my wife said another great purchase/choice from me! Because we left the robot turned off during winter and cover the pool, we found the pool was filled with green algae again and the water was so muddy. So I turn on the Aquabot for a 5 hour run for the last 3 days, the pool is back to crystal clear. It does take some work to clean the bag after each run to make it effective. But other than that, it is a great machine and save my back and shoulder from pain because of the scrubing and brushing.I guess the only drawback is now I have less and less exercise because of the robot taking care of the pool brushing! :) 5/5 Y.   Its a love/hate thing

  I went back and forth when trying to decide on a pool cleaner. I settled on the TurboT since I wanted a cleaner that had the scrubbers, but also didn't take excessive amounts of time to clean. My experience has been (5 months in):Handle directionChanging the direction of the handle after EVERY use is a nuisance. There are little clips that you need to push down before the handle will slide. The manual stats they will be stiff at first, but will become easier to use with time. 5 months on and they are still stiff - you really need to use a lot of force on it - it actually hurts my fingers since you are applying such pressure. Given the decision again, I would go with a different model that you didn't need to rotate the handle.Cleaning the TurboTThere are flaps at the bottom of the unit which get stuck and stay open EVERY time I remove from the pool.   Polaris 9400, Works Great, Saves Time and Hassle

  I rarely write reviews, but since the Polaris 9400 was just released on April 1, 2012, I figured everyone else considering this model would like to read a first-hand review from an early adopter. I bought online but not through Amazon. The seller had the 9400 in stock and at a low price, offered free UPS ground shipping, and no tax outside CA. Ordered Monday, the seller shipped same-day from Tulare, CA and the 9400 arrived Friday in PA. The unit was complete, only the caddy required assembly of approximately 30 minutes. My 31,000 gallon gunite pool is newly finished so in addition to leaves and other springtime debris, there was a lot of fine silt from the quartz plaster and the polymeric sand used on my paver deck. Polaris claims filtering down to 100 microns, but based on my results, I believe it's better than that. It took several cycles with intermittent dumping of leaves and debris and rinsing of the filter for the pool floors and walls to be spotless. The ability of the... 5/5 D.   Wall climbing ineffective - otherwise works

  I removed two stars as it is not effective in the wall climbing mode. If you don't care for the wall climbing mode at the price then it is a 4-5 star product. But,this unit does a great job on the floor only mode. I'm going to contrast my pros/cons to a dolphin dynamic which I owned before this as it is an alternative others will consider when shopping.Pros:* Filter cartridge is easy to remove and rinse. This is a welcome change. I came from a Dolphin Dynamic where it was very challenging to remove the bag and wash. This is definitely a step up.* Easy to remove from pool. Just pull the cord to get the robot to the edge and then pull up on the handle. No sediment fallout. Great.   I purchased this product approximately a month ago and used it 3 times since then. Prior to this I was cleaning with an inline cleaner which I had to monitor constantly from getting stuck in the corners. This unit is independent from your pool system and only uses an 110v from an electrical outlet. I have a 36,000 gallon rectangle pool and with this product I can start it and let it run the hour and a half cycle or the two and a half hours while I cut the grass or do something else. The two and a half hours clean cycle is more aggressive. It gets up on the sides and climb to the waterline. It even picks up the smallest grain of sand that I cannot see by just looking at the water. Even though it was a little pricey it was worth the buy. The only issue that I have is in the user guide manual it states that when the cleaner completes the cycle, the red light turns off in 15 second. In my case this doesn't happen at all.
